Vera Brown: Cinnamon & Honey Author Spotlight
Share
Pen Name: Vera BrownIn a few sentences, tell us about yourself and your writing journey?
My writing journey began, like many writers’... as a reader. I’ve always loved escaping into worlds created by others, while quietly creating worlds of my own that I never shared. After a motivational post from one of my favorite authors, I finally stepped out on faith and decided to give my own stories a voice.
What genres do you write in, and why did you choose them?
So far everything I've written has been paranormal romance. Would I say I chose the paranormal lane? No. Once I read L.A. Banks and Tananarive Due, every world I imagined had a little magic.
What is the title of your latest book?
I'm currently working on The Pull of the Storm to be released summer 2026, but Bindings of the Fated is the only work I've published so far.
Who would you say this book is perfect for?
I would say both books are perfect for those that love a strong female lead who can save herself pair with a strong male main character secure enough to not only lead but step back when she's the best person for the job. It's perfect for those that like a good paranormal read with high emotional stakes, deep character growth, and relationships built on respect, balance, and trust. These stories are especially for readers drawn to supernatural worlds that explore resilience, healing, and reclaiming power without sacrificing passion or intensity.
Give us your book description.
When a hurricane collides with M.E.’s already fractured life, it exposes a truth that was never meant to surface. The Pull of the Storm follows M.E. as she uncovers a hidden supernatural world tied to her bloodline, a dangerous bond she can’t escape, and forces drawn to her bloodline for reasons that have nothing to do with mercy. What begins as survival becomes a reckoning—with her power, her past, and the storm she was always meant to become.
Where can people purchase your book?
Bindings of the Fated and The Pull of the Storm are both available for order or pre-order on Amazon. They will soon be available on www.veratbrown.net as well. https://a.co/d/caSGjwn
What advice would you give to new or aspiring authors?
As a baby author, I don't think I have the experience yet to offer any advice other than find your author community and mentors. The writing is not the hard part... it's everything else. In the words of Socrates later echoed by sister Eryka Badu, "A wise man knows that he knows nothing at all." Don't try to do it alone. Seek out guidance from those that have done it and done it well.
Is there anything else you would like readers to know?
I’m an artist, and I’m sensitive about my ish. Lol (joking, but also not). Umm… I’m a creative Blerd at heart who loves good conversation just as much as good stories. I’m always down to talk Star Trek, electronics, mechanics, music, K- and C-dramas, languages, cosplay—you name it. With over 40 orbits around the sun, I’ve collected a few side quests along the way, and I’m always curious about what I’ll dive into next, so readers should know they’re always welcome to connect, geek out, and explore right along with me.
